On the positive side, to compete with Gmail and other services, MS is soon changing its
FREE Hotmail accounts to 250 MB storage and 10 MB maximum attachments, with FREE virus
scanning, which used to be available to only Hotmail paying subscribers.

Receiving a coveted invitation to open a free email account on Google's
Gmail is a thrill that's literally lost on Microsoft.

It seems Microsoft doesn't like students like me. Miss Dragon aka STAPLES (and Miss
PRICK) should raise this point with her superiors and urge them to be human and not worry
about competition. How much does Mr Gates needs to eat and live happily ever after?

Since the occurrence seems very limited, it is possible the issue has
nothing to do with Microsoft.
Gmail who has the most to lose even says "very limited"
The issue may very well have nothing to do with either party.
There are many possibilities, including settings on the computers, 3rd
party mail services etc.

"Google acknowledged some similar occurrences with Hotmail but called
them "very limited." MSN representatives said there were no known
problems with Hotmail users receiving Gmail or Orkut invitations. "MSN
Hotmail treats mail from Gmail accounts in the same manner as all
other incoming mail," MSN product manager Brooke Richardson wrote in
an email."

Overall the article is poorly written in that the initial message is
that Hotmail is at fault.
Yet not even Gmail suggests as much.

I'm sure someone has a good reason for sending this to every newsgroup they
can think of, but I'm frankly not the least interested.

Very educated remark from someone that cannot set their own
clock/time zone correctly.
Hey t.cruise,
Are you saying that competition does make M$ change? It was GMAIL
who fired the first shot
and now M$ nd Yahoo are also providing larger inboxes. So we must
continue giving M$ value
for its money. It is more competition we need not less.
We know Munich decided to stick with Linux desktops and now I hear
that Norwegian City has
also embraced open source. The city in question is bergen which
has decided to build its
education and health system around /SuSe Linux.
Where is this likely to end? are we already writing an epitaph of
Windows Os as we know it?
Who will keep us busy patching all those critical security packets?
